About Us

The Capanna originated as a kiosk in the Eastfield Mall in Springfield, MA and moved downtown to the Market Place's Atrium at 1365 Main Street upon the mall's closure in July of 2023. In August 2024 the kiosk closed for good and went online and to pop up locations.

The Capanna is solely owned and operated by Dawn Cincotta.  The words "our" and "we" is actually equal to "I" in this instance, however, the latter pronouns just seem to flow better. 

Dawn has worked most of her life in social services but has always been a true hippy at heart.  Dawn would visit well known hippy stores in Massachusetts over the years and eventually worked in her son's head shops.  

Capanna means "hut" in Italian and was chosen to reflect Dawn's Italian/Sicilian heritage.  The Ultimate Hippy Hut is ultimately a collection of Dawn's favorite things.  Stop by The Capanna in person at pop up locations or shop on line for an elevated experience.
